Software as a service

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a cloud computing model that provides users with access to software applications over the internet. In this model, instead of installing and maintaining the software on individual computers or servers, users can access the software and its features through a web browser. The SaaS provider hosts and manages the application on their servers, handling tasks such as software updates, security, and infrastructure maintenance.

The key characteristics of Software as a Service include accessibility, subscription-based pricing, multi-tenancy, automatic updates and reduced it overhead but for common examples of Software as a Service include email services like Gmail, collaboration tools like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, project management platforms like Asana, customer relationship management (CRM) systems like Salesforce, and many other business applications. The SaaS model has gained popularity due to its cost-effectiveness, ease of use, and flexibility, making it an essential part of modern cloud computing solutions.
